Happened to discover Atomic Wax during a weekend trip to El Paso and was very impressed - great inventory and vibe, with a fantastic selection of $2 blues/jazz albums. The downtown location is unique, and the proprietor is friendly and clearly attuned to his customers. This little place is a gem; looking forward to visiting again.

The other record stores in El Paso might be a bit larger with more volume but this store is definitely the most unique experience. It's a cozy, lovely little record shop hidden away behind a closed but colorful door inside an obscure building downtown. It's honestly like something out of a dream or a movie and one of my favorite shops in the city. It's usually pretty mellow but the place was totally hoppin' and lively when I came in on Record Store Day last summer. The gentleman who works there is always very friendly, and it's been fun to look through the vinyl. I've always found something interesting, like one of my favorite Boards of Canada records that's been on my wishlist forever. Definitely a unique merchant worth supporting. Heck even if you aren't into vinyl, I would suggest at least dropping in to say hi and see the place, after checking out the many neat murals in the adjacent alleyway. It's a hidden gem.
