Antique Metal Finishing is a small family owned and operated business that has been passed down three generations working together at the same time. Rudolph "Rudy Sr." Sjobakken a platter in Iowa, came to California in 1939. He worked for True Cast Trophy, Kaag Trophy and Dodge Silver Co. famous for Fine Victorian Silver, in L. A., until 1951.
First established in 1952 as a small plating shop by two brothers, Rudolph entered the employ of his brother Walter, a platter. In 1956 after family disagreements, Rudy Sr. set up shop as Antique Metal Finishing with his wife Rosalind.
In 1965, Rudy's eldest daughter Connie, married Joseph Pushckor, a mold maker and platter with background in chemistry. Joe was employed by Antique Metal Finishing in 1967. After the death of Rudy Sr.'s wife in 1972, their daughter, now Connie Pushckor, took over the office duties and lacquering. Joe and Connie and their son Rick worked with Rudy Sr. doing all aspects of electroplating, polishing repairing, silver smithing, cutlery replacing and refinishing. Mr. Sjobakken retired in April 1976 selling the business to his daughter Connie and Joe Pushckor.
In June of 1977 they purchased a building and relocated Antique Metal Finishing to the current location.
